How Harris County Used Euna Grants to Manage Over 700 Grants

About Harris County

Harris County, located in Texas, is home to Houston and its surrounding areas, with one of the largest and most diverse populations in the United States. Grant funding supports essential funding for infrastructure, public services, and community development initatives, driving Harris County’s growth.

For Harris County, ensuring their districts have the funding they need to best serve their students is top priority. That means people like Grants Analyst Eric Cadow and the rest of their grants team are always hard at work.

The Challenge: Creating Effective Grants Reporting

Before switching over to Euna Grants, Cadow and his team had a hard time managing and tracking the County’s grant funding. With such a manual and labor-intensive process, Cadow knew there was a better approach, so he began looking for a digital solution that could centralize grants management and streamline reporting. Their aim was to find a system that could monitor the County’s grant acquisition success rate, identify funding opportunities for essential projects, and meticulously track spending to ensure transparency and the efficient allocation of resources. That’s where Euna Grants came in.

The Solution: Gaining Control Through Centralized Reporting and Management

Once Cadow and his team implemented Euna Grants, they were able to centralize their system for managing state and federal funding, allowing greater visibility and more transparent reporting. With Euna Grants, the County could now:

  • Search for new grant opportunities using the Euna Grants Network and receive personalized recommendations via email
  • Use a database of previously funded applications as templates
  • Track expenses for as many as 750 grants at once
  • Monitor how money was spent over time
  • Combine data on reimbursements, expenses, budgets, and performance from various sources

The County’s ability to monitor, manage, and report on grants vastly improved, ensuring that money went where it could have the greatest impact.

The Results: 750 Grants Tracked, Improved Reporting, and More Citizens Served

By proactively streamlining project and grant setup flows prior to receiving awards, Cadow and his team were able to transform the grants management process right from the start. The County can now accurately track expenditures in the financial system for each project and grant awarded, leading to the simultaneous management of up to 750 grants serving over 4.5 million residents.

“Harris County identified the need for a centralized grant management system (GMS) to provide clear oversight and reporting of all grant funding for the County and its stakeholders.”

— Eric Cadow, Grant Analyst, Harris County

This streamlined process ensured effective allocation of funds, successful project management, and improved transparency and speed of service delivery, ultimately enhancing the success of Harris County.
